Firewall Timeout Workaround – Auto Reload Page

So I’ll be the first to admit this isn’t the most ground breaking thing in the world, but it sure saves me a headache at work. The issue I was having is that the firewall would server my internet connection if there was more than 15 minutes of inactivity. So any of my periodic sync’ing programs would fail when they popped up to run on my desktop. So what I made was a simple HTML that refreshed itself every 3 minutes or so keeping my connection alive … forever! So I never had to re-authenticate myself after 15 minutes of inactivity.

<html>
<head></head>
<body>

<script type="text/javascript">
function reloadfx()
{
	document.getElementById("reload_me").src="http://ryandunn.co";
	var d=new Date();
	var t=d.toLocaleTimeString();
	document.getElementById("demo").innerHTML=t;
}

function myFunction()
{
setInterval(function(){reloadfx()},100000);
}

</script>

Reloader - <button onclick="myFunction()">Start Auto Refresh</button>
<div id="demo"></div>
<iframe id="reload_me" src="http://www.google.com"></iframe>

</body>
</html>
