Setting up SharePoint 2013

So I’m really excited to starting bulding a green field SharePoint 2013 Enterprise Cluster. I’m thinking this is going to be a series of posts on this topic, but I wanted to make sure I started posting my notes at the same time I got started with the literal build so I don’t miss any details when I try to recall whatever it was I did to make this work.

That being said, I started here reading the TechNet Article posted by Microsoft. What being said, I put specific focus on the deployment guide (warning, it is a bit of a tomb at 674 pages).

Also a couple notes about the Farm I’m building, I have 2 Web Servers, 2 App Servers, and a single SQL Server. All of them are running Windows Server 2012 and I’m running SQL Server 2012 with future plans on using availablity groups. Everything is setup on VMWare.

Notes as I go along,

Some information on required accounts and their permissions… again these are just some of my notes and clips from the Microsoft Technet stuff. Obivously they recommend that you always use “least-privilege administration”.

Page 14 (or literal page 41) of the deployment document goes into detail of what example each account needs. You can download it from the link above.
