I ran into a bunch of problems installing nopCommerce 2.2. With the install changed, I found myself sitting there staring at files and IIS errors when I had thought I would have a demo store up and running in no time at all. Boy was I was wrong.
So the deal is that with the upgrade of nopCommerce to ASP.Net 4.0 and the adoption of the MVC architecture there are a couple of gotcha’s in the install as I’m finding out the hard way. This post, by the way, is geared at those of us who are doing a local install or a manual install on a web server with out the handy little web app installer Microsoft provides.
After unzipping the package from the download page from nopCommerce and after I set up the IIS instance for the site
I was looking at a big fat error…
HTTP Error 403.14 – Forbidden
The Web server is configured to not list the contents of this directory.
So the issue is that you need to update your MVC framework on your server to allow for the install components to fire off correctly. Start off by downloading the framework update for MVC 3.0 here…
Once that is installed, try to access your website again and you should see the problem resolved. At this point you should be back on familiar ground with the install you are used to seeing in the past. I find it very frustrating that there wasn’t additonal documentation on the forums from the admins on this one. I’m seeing people all over the place hit this issue and to pour just a bit of salt on the wound their install video is down as well. Sigh. A better day will come in the world of nopCommerce I’m sure.
